Our story

We were the customer first.

Bookzyr was built by people who've owned one of Australia's most successful barbershops. We knew exactly what was broken — because we were the ones losing money to it.

We were tired of paying $2,000 a month for software that couldn't even tell us which barber drove the most retail revenue. So we built the system we wished existed.

Why we exist

Built by real people who've been there.

Not a tech company that "noticed an opportunity in the salon space." A salon that got tired of being someone else's opportunity.

The breaking point

It was a Sunday night, end of the financial year. Our owner was at the kitchen table trying to work out which services made money. The booking software told us total revenue. That was it. It couldn't tell us cost per service, who was rebooking, what we made on retail vs labour, or which barber had the best retention. The numbers we needed to actually run the business — gone, locked behind a 12-page export and a $200/month "analytics add-on."

What we already knew

By then we'd run one of Australia's busiest barbershops for over a decade. Six chairs, 200+ cuts a week, a regular client list we'd earned slowly. We knew exactly what made it work: rebook discipline, real cost-per-service tracking, knowing which barber suited which client, recovering deposits when someone bailed at 9am. The systems we paid for hid all of that from us.

So we built it

Bookzyr is the system we wished we'd had — built around the analytics that actually run a business, at a price that doesn't feel like a punishment for growing. Every metric we wanted in our dashboard, every report we needed for tax, every workflow we'd hacked together over the years — baked in from day one.

Less cost. Built better.

Most booking software charges per-staff with hidden upgrades to unlock the bits you actually need. We charge a flat fee for the lot — because we remember what it felt like to have 12 staff and a $700 software bill. Today we're a team of 47 in Melbourne. Half of us are former stylists, barbers, lash artists, or salon owners. The other half are engineers who listen to them. The product roadmap is built from customer calls — not from a tech VC's spreadsheet.

What we believe

Four things we won't compromise on.

Your clients are yours.

We don't run a marketplace, we don't email your clients without permission, and we don't sell their data. Your client list is yours — exportable any time, no hostage situations.

The numbers you actually need.

Cost per service, retention by staff, retail-to-labour ratio, rebook rate, no-show recovery. The metrics we wished we had — built into every plan, not gated behind an upgrade.

Less cost. No surprises.

Flat monthly fees. No per-booking commissions. No part-time-staff penalties. We remember what it felt like to grow and watch the software bill grow with us. Never again.

Real humans on the other end.

When you message us, you get someone who's worked behind a chair, not a chatbot. Email replies in under 2 hours, every plan. Onshore support, not outsourced.

Built for the way you work.
